Membership is open to re-enactors of all eras. We’re interested in any and all historical periods. From the Renaissance to World War II or any time in between, we’d be glad to have you join us.

If you’re not reenacting now but think you’d like to, we can help you get started. We’d be glad to help you make those important first decisions on which era you’d like to reenact and what kind of persona to portray.

Living History Re-enactors Inc.

Who are Living History Re-enactors?
We're people like you!  People that find American History interesting and important.  Re-enactors come from all walks of life.  We're young, we're old. We're married, we're single.  We have families, or maybe not.  We're postmen, doctors, seamstresses, mechanics, homemakers, educators... you name it!

What do Re-enactors do?
Well, like the name implies, many of us are "re-enactors" who like to dress in "period" costume and participate in events that give the feel of what life was like in the "good ole days" and we like to demonstrate that early life for visitors at our events.  BUT DON'T YOU GET THE IDEA THAT'S ALL WE DO!  We also give our time for many things of historic value.  We've cleaned up a Civil War veteran's grave site, cleared weeds and made campsites at Fort Bellefontaine Park.  We have a "black powder" shooting match and demo. We hold an annual "Historic Item" auction and help out at Old St. Ferdinand Shrine and are presently working on building an old fashioned "bread oven" for the Shrine to conduct demonstrations and raise funds.  And some of us go to schools & libraries to give presentations for the children's enjoyment and learning.

When & Where do Re-enactors meet?
Besides our annual events & our special projects, we meet at the
Jamestown Bluff Branch Library located in Florissant, MO, on the third Wednesday of each month.

Why do Re-enactors do what they do?
We love our American history. We enjoy helping others understand our American history. We want to preserve our local, state & national history, including buildings, books, tools... well... ANYTHING of historic value!

And How do Re-enactors do all these things?
We get involved.  Not just by dressin' up in funny old clothing.  We help our community and we participate in local events, like the Valley of Flowers Festival, in bi-state events, such as other group's Rendezvous or encampments, and in national events, like the upcoming anniversary of the Lewis & Clark Expedition.

That's what Living History Re-enactors is about...  You can participate at any level you like!  Bring your own knowledge, background, experience or expertise to help out.  Work on most any area of American history.  Build a "persona" based on your own family heritage or ethnic origin.  Be a thinker... a planner... (a good stout back to help build the bread oven wouldn't hurt).  You aren't required to dress up in funny clothes and re-enact anything!... But I bet you eventually WILL.  Because, like the old Mountain Men would say... You're sure to have a SHININ' TIME!

Thanks for taking the time to visit with us!
