Update: The work continues 4-15-06

One crew was busy splitting and moving the firewood from the side of the bread oven to the rear.  As you can see by the pictures, this will be the area for our firewood staging from now on.
A second crew worked on nailing the shingles to the roof.
A third crew worked on the predrilling of the shingles for nailing.
And a fourth crew worked on the attaching some final bracing onto the roof rafters. The second side is next and I need to finish up the welding on the cross for the top of the roof before the ridge cap can be nailed complete.
Thanks to Doug, Randy, Rick, Joe, Greg. Jim and Joes friend Rick.

Update: Final Roofing Days 4-22-06

The guys have been hitting it hard to finish up the roof before the May Encampment.  As you can see from the pictures that the roof shingles are nailed complete.  The cross is bolted to the ridge beam on the front end of the roof.  The center ridge cap is nailed into position. Oh Happy Day!!!!!!
We will need to plug some drilled holes in the beams with wood dowel rods to hide the bolting, but this is small potatoes.
Note the picture of Rick and Mike on the roof.  This roof is steep and tricky.
Thanks to all for all the BIG EFFORT during this project. Thanks today to DOUG, RICK, MIKE, RANDY, GREG. THANKS ALSO TO OUR THREE QUILTERS FOR TODAY CONNIE, LINDA C.  AND YES BIG ED PATTERSON.  Kara also showed up late to lend a hand also.

Update: 9-16-08 - Day 1
Heres a couple of pictures of the work that Rick Grein and the LHR crew had done last Saturday at the Shrine BREAD OVEN PHASE II PROJECT.   His forms (template's) are still in position inside the oven.  He plans on removing the inside template and start work on both ends.  Rick stated at Wednesday LHR meeting, that the ends are going to go slow due to all the custom cutting of the bricks that will be required.  Rick also stated that after the brick work is complete and the metal door is set in place, the whole outside of the brick surface will be covered with the remaining clay from Bread Oven Phase I.
Looks great Rick "Back Draft" Grein!
